KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 40 of 137) November 22 to December 5, 1853 The 22nd: "went(to) post office-but missed the mail-came back all day at the house-and where Pa (&) Abner was splitten rails" The 23rd: "G. D. W.(Whitfield)sent for Pa to go & help him work on a sugarmill- I stade with Abner-at noon Pa asked me to where he was". The 25th: "at home where A. was digging pot.(potatoes?)-in the eve I went to G. D. W.-it was cloudy looked like rain". The 26th: "A. was working some yearlings-I went with him when I("he")came back to dinner". The 27th: "I went and stade all day with G. Rains(Griffin Raines?)-we was there by our selves-A. came". The 28th: "Pa & Abner went to G. W.(Whitfield's)to work-I stade at home and wrote a letter to G. W. W.-started to cary it to O.(office)but it rained-came back". The 29th: "when I got up it was cloudy-stade at home all day-Pa went to Wm. P. (Posey?) to get him to go with him to Cork-for (to look at?) a lot of land-no. 201/ 14 Dist. Dooly Co Ga.".* December 1st: "...went to G. D. W.s-came home at noon-striped cain(stripped cane)in the eve as my(father) lived wher it could be made". The 2nd: "I went to Vienna to have a deed recorded-got it done-some other little things-came home just at sunset". The 3rd: "at home-s. cane(?)-noon went to G. D. W.s-came back-Lydia Matthews was here-stade till next eve-L. G. Messer went...". The 5th: "at home all day-sprinkles of rain-S.
