December 6-26, 1853

The 6th: "I went by to P. O. after Lucy a nease-to Mrs. M.s(Matthews?)-but she 
had left for home with L. M.(Lydia Matthews?)-so I came home"

The 9th: "...in eve went to S. mill".

The 10th: "plesent sun shiny d(a)y-I was striping cane-went to S. M.-came home".

The 11th: "I wrote a letter to Allen Turner-in Mill(edgeville?)at this time-
stade about home all day".

The 12th: "at home-kild some hogs-S. P. Odem came for me to go with him to 
Starksvill Lee county".

The 13th: "stade all night out of town about 5 or 6 miles-this was the first 
time(I) ever was at Starksville".

The 14th: "Mr Cerzey(?) came with us to Starksville-came home-river up 20.F
(feet?) yestody-10(feet today?)-arrived at home 3ocl.".

The 15th: "cold(?)-went to G. D. Whitfield's".

The 16th "at home-went to striping cane-became sick and quit-in the eve went 
hunting and wrote this".

The 17th: "at home-went to S. mill or to G. W.".

The 19th: "at home all day-kild some hogs".

The 20th: "went to H. Brewers sale-cool".

The 24th: "cool-in the eve S. Merphy(?) (&) J. Raney(?) & 2 other men came-I 
went to G. D. W.s for to get a barrel of sirup-rain-came home-went to G. R.s
(Griffin Raine's?)with Mr. Raney".

The 25th: "cool but plesent-at home not much excitement".

The 26th: "clear-in the mo. me and Mr. M. & R. went to Wm. Lain's(or Lewis?)-
after we started a cloud came up-very cold-looks like it will rain or s.(snow?)-
12 it cleared off-pretty eve-I went to the Post Office".
