KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 43 of 137) January 28 to February 25, 1854 The 28th: "(as las Monday never saw J. C.)-[likely John Cook*]I went to J. C.s received $260.00-came to Mr. Moors-then to T. J. Mart(Martin's)all night". The 29th: "at M.(Martin's)-ate dinner-came to Skinner's-the first time I ever A. J. Sk.'s wife"-5 days at school". February 4th: "I went to the store with a pair of s(h)oes that I had got from L. H. T. which was two small for me-he was at the store-I went to McMullan's for him-then in the eve-went home with his little boy-stade all night". The 5th: "me and C. D. H.(Hooks)went to W. T. T.'s but he had moved to W. B. Ammon's-it was not near here where I went last year-came back-I came home-at school 5 days". The 11th: "me and Mr. 1(one will stand for Ammons)went to court & S. O.s sail-I clerked at the sale all day-I bot. W. Dictionary-$1.05(?)-I heard that my father had come in the settlement-me & Mr. 1. came home-in a few minutes he came". The 12th: "there is preaching at the Acdy-we all went-me (&) Pa walked-Mr. & Mrs 1. went-Mr. J.(John ?)Bryans came to Mr. 1's in eve-Pa left went to S. Pry's (Pryors or Perry's?)". The 13th: "he came back in eve-lodged-left befor day". The 16th: "he came back by the Acdy-the last I saw(of him)". The 18th: "at home-me and Mr. 1 went to S. Shoals-worked a little firery(?)mare & c". The 19th: "we went to meeting (at)Sharon-cloudy & cold-his little daughter was sick-in eve A. Crowel(a young man who lived with him)came home sick(I was sick myself but could be up)-he was sick all the week The 25th: "It was raining when I awoke-continued". _________________________ * James Knowles Sr. sold land to Thomas Cook when he left Henry Co.
