KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 47 of 137) May 1-14, 1854 The 1st continued: "..to getting plays-very pleasant day". The 3rd: "at school-I. B. B.(Bryans)came home with me". The 4th: "...I wrote a letter to my father but did not send it". The 5th: "turned out at recess-came by the store to home-I have got a mighty hurting in my stomach-it hurts me very much-O my Lord stop the pain-what I done at school-1 chemistry lesson then Alg. till noon Geomet(r)y in the eve & c." The 6th: "me & Mr. 1 went fishing-came home at noon-He had caught just as many again as I had-but if I had had haff(?)of his-I would have had as many more as he had-how many were there(?)-in the evening just reversed-came home Dr. B. (Bryan's)wife was there". The 7th: "Mr. & Mrs. 1 went with her to J. B.(John Bryans)-I went to church-S. O. preached-came by J. Skinner's-wrote a letter for W. A. J. S.s wife-to get her letter from the church-came home-they had returned-we talked a good deal about joinin(g)the church- here is the way we was(sitting?)in the door[diagram]- we are a happy little family but he is not in the church-but I think he has religion and will join soon-if nothing happens(to the) contrary". The 8th: "I received a letter from Col. Doyal for me to go to Jackson for to get some money". The 13th: "I went-I returned without it-arrived at the store about 2 hours by sun-Mr. 1 was there-he came home with me-I was in a ill mood(?)". The 14th: "me & Mr. 1 went to J. B.s-then in the eve went-P-roling(patroling?) with F. M. Clark (&) T. H. Bryans-rain this morning-foggy this month-the figue (?)1 stands for Ammons".
