May 15-26, 1854

May 15th: "cloudy-I went to school">

The 17th: "...in the morning we had a fine season(rain?)-A. J. McMullan(?)came 
home with me-26 schollars-bough(?)a coat at(Mr. H. S.?)-$2.55".-[W. H. Speirs-
storekeeper]

The 18th: "Buntyn cut it-wrote a letter to my father".

The 20th: "we went to W. H. B.s(Bryan's)-he went for to get a mule-came back 
they went to church-I stade at home-this morning I told Mr. 1 about-[long coded 
passage]-while they was gon (to) church I came to the store & bought 1 pare of 
boots-$45(?)-after they came home-we went to the store-stade till nearly night".

The 21st: "we went to the lot & talked-[coded passage]-(went to church-road a 
mule)-[long coded passage]-they went to T. H. B.s-I came home then went to Wm. 
H. B. all the eve-came home & in a few moments(?) they came".

The 22nd: "I came to school-they went to James H. Bryans-the Dr.s-[Mrs. Ammons' 
brother]-Mr. 1 went to N. C. Williamsons sail-[estate sale]-at night they came 
home-some rain-my continued prayer is for knowledge education & love for God & 
for one another-I think my prair has been answered".

The 26th: "came to school-at 1 Oclock dismissed-went home-we came to the store-
this is the day the sun is to be in the (eclipse?)-it came on about two Ocl.-
came home-went to the plantation-set out some hooks-came home".
