May 27 to June 2, 1854 

May 27th: "we went to them-[hooks]-a fish on them but we went to a basket and 
caught 91(?)-we came home & then we went down (t)here where they was at work-
came back to the house (??) at three we went to the store-stade some time-then 
we came home-T. H. B. was there or came in a few minutes with his family-all 
night-at night he asked me some questions on religious subjects-we agreed 
tolerable-for we had both(binn?) the same road- just after we lay down-M. H. B. 
came all night".

The 28th: "All arose but Mr. 1-he was sick-tolerable bad off all day-Hubert 
went off to home & to meeting at Sardis-yesterday was my meeting day but it was
(two far)for me to walk-so I did not go-me (&) T. H. B. went to walking about & 
talked on the same subject that we was last night-came to the house-ate din.-at 
4 Ocl. he left-I just stade about here all the eve-cloudy thunder-I like Mr. T. 
H. B. (v)ery well".

The 29th: "school-rehersing(?)our resitations & c."

The 30th: "warm-rehersing plays".

The 31st: "examination day-I was examined in E. Grammar & worked some sums-a 
good many persons here all day-at night G. W. W.(Welch)came home with me all 
night-warm".

June 1st: "1 Chemistry les(s)on-1 (sum?)-I was vect(vexed?)because I was not 
examined [further]-C. C. W. on the bible-Gaskill on education-they all employed 
Mr. H.(Hilsman)to teach school next year-exhibition at night-M.(?)Reeves & M. 
H. Bryan(s)came to our house all night".

The 2nd: "we all went for to (seek?) for (gold?)-came back-me & Mr. 1 went to 
[the] plantation till noon-in eve went back all the eve-came home".
