October 6-20, 1854

The 6th continued: "home about dusk".

The 7th: "we all went to Turner's meeting(Turner Methodist)-I walked for not 
expecting to come back-tolerable good meeting-I went home with W. B. A. but 
came to S. T.s(Sarah? Turner's?)-staid all night".

The 8th: "came by the Old Judg(e?)T.s(Turner's)to meeting-S. S. preached M.(?)
C. T.s(?) child's funeral-I came home".

The 9th: "me & Mrs. 1 went-Mr. 1 stade at home-came back-his mother & Mrs. McM. 
(McMullan?)came home with us".

The 10th: "Mr. & Mrs. 1 went home with her-I went to plant. for to get some 
muskdines-[muscadine grapes]-came back-thence to(to)store all the eve.".

The 11th: "I went to L. U.s(?-Upchurch's-?)sale-bot. 1 sade(saddle?)$3.00-came 
back".

The 12th: "I went with Mr. 1 for to haul(?)some for W. Wyatt[above line-
"corn..is"]-came home-very warm-[came]from F. Russel's".

The 13th: "Went to the store & O'Dell's where M. J. O. was taking Aideartype(?)-
after noon came home-here all the eve".

The 14th: "Went to meeting Sharon-I. H. Bryans came home with him".

The 15th: "All went to meeting again-I started to come home-but got with M. J. 
O. and went to J. Hootens-ate dinner-then to the old man U.(Upchurch?)as L. U.s 
family had started to Texas-that fare(far?)-came back(?)".

The 16th: "I went to school-was taken very sick-getting worse all day-came home-
very ill at night-I was taken with the flu(e-?)-they went to M. C. T.-[between 
lines-"to see them start?"]". [perhaps refers to the Upchurches, to Texas?]

The 17th: "little better to-day-they came home after they started-me & Mr. 1 
went to the Pl.-came back after dark".

The 18th: "me & Mr. 1 went to McD.(McDonough)-very well satisfide(?)-but not 
well-and business not settled-came home".

The 19th: "in morning no better-went to store-came home ate dinner-a little 
better".

The 20th: "went to Mrs. Wards to see about getting a s(school?)". [John Ward 
had previously taught school at or nearer Sardis Baptist church]
