January 12-20, 1855

The 12th: " continued: "..very cold-stade till eve-went to Mr. 1's-(shaved?)to 
go to W. H. T.s all night".

The 31st: "Went to S. T.s dined-to W. B. A.s all night"

Janurary 1st: "me & W. B. A. went to McDonough-in eve Mr. T. H. B. wanted me to 
go to with him to Zebulon-so I went or st(arted)-all night at James Butler's"

The 2nd: "we went on to Z. in Pike Co.-he bot. a negro man-came back to Griffin-
stade all night at Mr. Freeman's Tavern-P.(pleasnat)wether".

The 3rd: "Came on to McD.-ate dinner-came on to his house just at night-Mr. 1 
came-I came home with him as he had his buggy-all night".

The 4th: "he loan(ed) me a mule to go to T. W. S.(?-Sims-?)-saw him-came back-
Mr. 1 & me went to P.(plantation)-came back to house-I came to store-lodged at 
Mr. W. H. S. (Speir's-?)-all day-[and night]".

The 5th: "at the store-in eve went to Mr. 1s-went to P.-came back-all night at 
Mr. 1".

The 6th: "Mr. S.(Speirs) went to Griffin & got me to stay in the store with J. 
A. O.(?)- (? ? ?)-I stade-a good many persons-all night at Mr. S.s".

The 7th: "Went to Mr. 1's shaved-went to Dr. Bryans down in Butts with Mr. 1-
came back-very pleasant-I stoped at Mr. S.s".

The 8th: "Commensed school-the first day I ever taught school-still went to Mr. 
S.s as he had not yet returned".

The 9th: "went to W. H. Bryan's to bourd as I could not-[long coded passage-
easily read]-".

The 10th: "W. H. B. & Mr. 1 to Griffin & expecte(d?)to bring some sirup for me".

The 11th: "Went to home as I call W. H. B.'s now-[small script- "(he?)-came 
home in the mo.-(?)"].
