March 4-24, 1855

The 4th: "At home-wrote this-very loansom-in eve went to school house-very 
plesant week".

The 9th: "Received 1 letter from Boston-1 by hand from M. J. O. Atlannter(?)-1 
S. S. J.(?)- (&) 2 Indext(Christian Indexes)".

The 10th: "went with Mr. 1 to J. Sandre's-came to court-J. & T. H. Bryans came 
home with us-in the eve we rode out after a dog & c.".

The 11th: "took a walk came back at 10(?)-in eve they went to W. H. B.'s-I went 
to Mt. B. to meeting-Allen P.-Text 30 C. 14 V. of Exodus-then to J. Hails to 
get my letter from Sardis- [beneath line"] -"A copy of it": 

"G. H. C.(Georgia-Henry Co.) The Babtice Church of Christ at Sardis do here by 
certify that our beloved brother James B. Knowles is a member in full 
fellowship with us and is here by dismissed from us when joined to any other 
Baptice Church of the same faith & order-done by order of the church in 
conference this March 10th 1855-John Hail C. H. C.(?)".

The 16th: "I received a note of invitation from John P. Clark of S. S.(S. 
Shoals?)-as it was the last day of my first quarter I dismissed school at 
recess & went-came home 10 Ocl. p.m. as they had a concert at night".

The 17th: "me & Mr. 1 took a walk to P.-came back-went to church-I joined by 
letter-came home-went to P. just on a tromp-came back-F. E. B. here all night-
[coded passage]".

The 18th: "raining-we went to meeting-cloudy(?)day(?)-but few out-came home-
just about here-all eve".

"All the week at school".

The 24th: "Went hunting with Mr. 1-came back-in eve went to-I went to W. B. A-
lodge(d)-they went to J. B.'s-John Tarply & mother at W. B. A.s".
