April 15-24, 1855

The 16th continued: "I started to school with surveying Inst.-m(?)-for to go to 
T. H. B.'s for to run one of those field(s?)over that I ran last Saturday was a 
week(?)-as there was some dispute about what it contained-when I started it 
seemed to me as if I had left some thing & (? ? ?) about it to Mrs. 1-started & 
in about 100 yds(?)I thought what it was-it was the was the J staff(Jacob's 
staff?)-went back & as it is always said that it is bad luck to go back-I will 
show what I have seen today-in the morning when I arrived I found that 2 of my 
boyes was gon to the store-directly came back-an(?) (in?)about 1 hour Speir 
sent me a note that he had lost a Indian-ruba(?) ball and (&)wanted me to look 
out for it-which I did-so(?) found the ball at recess-carred it to him-he told 
me I should whip (the?) (one?) (brought? it?)-I came back & done so-he denied 
it then owned it at last-W. H. B. son of  T. H. B.(who?)was very sick-so I was 
disapointed in going to his father(I am now here with him at the Ac. & what 
else will transpire I know not-or where I will stay tonight)-Mr. B. cam(e)-I 
went home with him all night".

The 17th: "run his land came to school".

The 18th: "went to town in buggy with Mr. 1-came b.".

The 19th: "Received at letter from Pa".

The 21st: "I went to S. T.'s(Turner's)-Mr. & Mrs. 1 went to W. B. A.s-I then 
went to W. S. Fargason's-came home-all night".

The 22nd: "went to S. Shoals to meeting-Peree(?) P. Text 10 C. & 35-37 V. Luke-
ate dinne(r)at B. G. H.'s-came home".

The 23rd: "at school-Dr. M. H. B. at Mr. 1's".

The 24th: "My birth day-22 years of age".
