KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 75 of 137) May 26 to June 5, 1855 The 26th continued: "to see if he(Perry?)would let me have some corn(?)-without success-came home-pesteard(?)-but never told Mr. 1 what I went for". The 27th: "I told him I did not know what I would do if he did not bo.(board)my horse-he told me that he did not want me to put myself to any trouble-I was somewhat releaved-we went to S.("Sabath" or Sunday?)School-he left his wife at W. H. S.s-he went on in buggy-but few as they just met to organise(?)the school- came home-rain & hail in the eve-came to his lot-he told me all about his [code] & about [coded passage] went to see-well pleased as I always am with him". The 28th: "came where he was setting out potatoes-till school time-came to school 10 schollars". The 30th: "at school-14 scholars-pain in stomach". June 1st: "rain in the morning-I came to school- 4 scholars-dismissed-went home- there till noon-(we?)went to store as it was mail day-nearly all the eve-then to home-thence to T. Thresher's(Thrasher's?)-came home-it was dark" The 2nd: "here about till noon-then to Pa.(patch?)-came back-went to store-Mr. 1 sick-we came home-about 10 Ocl. T. H. B. & squad came for me to go pat.(?- patroling-?)went by J. (John?)Childress-came back near two Ocl. at night-sick (? ? ?)". The 3rd: "cold for the season-heard that G. W. Welch was married-went S. School- home with (the?)T. H. B.(s?) all the eve-his father & mother there-came home sick as I was last night". The 4th: "at school-13 scholars-sick in mor & eve-".
