KNOWLES, 1852-1858(page 77 of 137) June 23 to July 14, 1855 The 23rd continued: "..by noon-went with Mr. 1 to Pa.-saw McGraw came back-at night we went down to(?) road to Mr.(?) P.'s(?)-ketch a negro-came home 11 Ocl." The 24th: "I went to S. School-came back-some rain- [code] -in eve went to Pl.- a tremen-ndous(?)rain-got wet-corn looks fine". The 27th: "Went to store bot. cloth to make me a coat-$11 coat & trimmings". The 29th: "dismissed school till Monday week". The 30th: "went fish(ing)-then to the store all eve". July 1st: "went to s.[Sabbath] School-then to W. H. T.'s all eve-came back". The 2nd: "went to river in- [code] -me & Mr. 1 in truble-no not what about*-to Pa again" The 4th: "went to town to an examination-joined to Mouuthings(?)-at night speak (?)ing- all night at J. E. Buntyn's". The 5th: "back to examination-at night exhibition-Lodged at L. H. T.'s". The 6th: "came home-to store-saw B. Hilsman(?)-rain-we went home". The 7th: "went to Pl-came back-in the eve (? ? ?)-came back-I went with W. H. B. to T. [G.-? ? ? ?] -Mr. & Mrs. 1 went to her father's-they came ba.". The 8th: "all went to S. S.[Sabbath school] -then to T. H. B.'s as he made a dinner in remembrence of his birthday-82 years old". The 9th: "at school-13 sch.". The 13th: "a mouuthing(?) speach by Col. L. T. Doyal-came home". The 14th: "went to meeting-Mr. Sharp on upon Sabbath School (? ? ? ? ?) -came home-then to the Acdy. to [Anty mo. speach?]-". ____________________________ *James had started to perceive a difference in Mr. Ammon's attitude towards him.
