KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 16 of 137) April 14-24, 1853 The 14th continued: "..we all came on together-stade all night-(he) preached at Acdy. at night-Text 12 ch. 13 V. of Ecleastes(?)-he is a young man". The 15th: "pleasant-examination in eve-Mr. Pain was at our examination-gave a lecture at the close of the exercises-he went from here to the S. Shoals- Hooke's family all went with him-I went to L. H. T.(Turner)-rain at night". The 16th: "rain in the morning-warm windy-at L. H. T.-all day all night-stormy at night". The 17th: "L. H. T. & G. D. told me to recollect that he was to send if G. Dolton(')s folks came befor he came back-$1.75 by his brother to his father- cloudy & windy at L. H. T.". The 18th: "clear and cool-the sun shines very brite-at sch.(school)-at 12 went to the store". The 20th: "went to McDonough-cloudy and very pretty day-bot.(bought)3 book(s)- Smith & (? ? ? ?) Keys-50Ë ea.-$1.00 & Loams(?)Geometry $1.00-cloth to make a coat & pants-I went by(?)McD. road-I rode B. G. H.'s beast-a good many in town- I came home to B. G. H.(Hook's)with J. Johnson". The 21st: "(d?)ull cloudy day-in the evening E. C. Hartsfield was sick-I got B. G. H.'s buggy and (c)ared her hom(e)-I came back to J. E. Buntyn's as they was all gon there-stade till bed time-then came home". The 22nd: "very warm-has(t)ey clouds-Jas. E. B. cut me some pants-B. G. H. (&) M. E. H. went to J. H.'s(?)-myself, Mrs. H. & P. Killgro stade (at) B. G. H.- light dry wind". The 23rd: "taken medderson which made me sick-went to Ac(a)demy". The 24th: "my birth day-I was twenty years old today-I put on my close to go to Sardis with William Brewer-as last eve he told me if his wife did not go-I mite (?)she wen(t)".
