October 1-13, 1855 

[Please disregard earlier page sequence warning-pages 82, 83A, 83B, and 84 are 
in proper order. James used the wrong month on the 83A header and I had 
inadvertently shuffled the pages.]

October 1st: "Election Day-me & Mr. 1 went to town-a good man people out-came 
home
[He then listed the candidates: "Gov. Johnson-A Amer.; Andrews-American; & 
Overby- Temperance--Congress: Warner-A. A. & B. H. Hill-A.--Senator: A. W. 
Turner-A. & Dr. Tye-A. A.--Representatives: Masters-A. A. & Lemon-A. A.; Hail-
A. & Johnson-American]-all of the Americans elected in this county".]

The 2nd: "came to school-all the week at sch.".

The 6th: "Messer left Mr. 1-I was with them in making a settlement-to store-
came back here till noon-then started to W. H. B.'s-then we went to S. Turner's-
cool-rain last night".

The 7th: "T. H. B. came here & A. Nesbit-left-I went to S.(Sabbath)school-came 
back-in the eve we went to S. Shoals to see L. R. Farbus as he was very sick-
came home-cool-some frost this morning".

The 8th: "came to school-cool-6 schollars".

The 10th: "nine scholars-at night went with Mr. 1 to Mr. J. B.'s-he was 
preparing to go to Covington tomorrow".

The 11th: "went with him there-again came to school-wrote this-4 scholars only 
G., W., J. Bryans (&) W. L.(Lewis)".

The13th: "came to school- 5 -at noon broke school perhaps(?)for eve(r) here-G., 
J., & W. Bryan(s), W. Lewis, S. C. Hester".
