KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 84 of 137) November 11-18, 1855 The 11th continued: "..he would not-I went to William H. Speirs'-cloudy-some mist of rain-I came back wrote this-I am (? ? ?)". The 12th: "we went to store together-he went to Jas. Hooten's-I went to S. T.'s- from thence to W. H. T.'s-dined-then to Wm. B. 1's-lodged-some rain-I enjoy myself with him". The 13th: "came back to S. T.'s-then to T. H. Bryans'-with him to his farther's home-dined- [then?]with Mr. 1 to J. B.'s(?)-I stade all night-he came home-Hub (Hubbert?)was there". The 14th: "I came home-he was at the Gin(when I came by)on his way to Covnington-I had told him I wan(d)ed to go with him-Bill Baker & Hamp was with him-Baker was working at his house-he never had any provisions for me-just for him & Bak(er)-I hesitated-H. said for me to go I would pro(sper?)-I hesi (tated?)- [then] came home-left my horse-went on my way-we had a plesant trip for all-but that stung me-we camped about 1 mile this side of Cov. on our return". The 15th: "Came home-arived 11 Ocl.-Barton & J. Dalton came-told him his Ma had arrived from Texas-so Mr. & Mrs. 1 left for Barton's to see her-I went to the store-came back-me & B. Ba.(Baker?)stade here-it has been cloudy in the day for 10(days?)-but little rain-clear nights". The 16th: "I expect to teach school here next year-I went to store-he came home in eve-we went to S. Shoals-came home". The 17th: "I(n) morning went hunting-came back-went to Church-no preaching-then we went to Barton's-I saw (t)heir mother-came home by the store-me & W. H. S. had a settlement-came home-he [Mr. 1(?)] never halted at store". The 18th: "Preparing to go to see my father-I have got four hundred & 46 dollars on hand- ples.(pleasant)some clouds-dined-15 minutes after 12 I left for S. M.(Samuel Moore's?)-stoped [at] T. O. & T.
