KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 92 of 137) February 8-22, 1856 The 8th continued: "..worked mule-came home-very cold". The 9th: "On the jury-went home in eve-A. Leak [came?]-then Mr. 1 went to J. B.s with him (? night)-came back". The 10th: "To Turners to meeting-to W. B. A.'s-J. R. with me-in eve came home". The 11th: "came to school-some rain-12 (s)chol.". The 12th: "I loan Mr. 1 my horse to ride to Covington". The 15th: "Went to Buntyn's at noon-Col.(?)said to me I should not have left the school room". The 16th: "We went to Pl.-came home-went to church-wind blew very h(e)ard-but pleasant-came home-in eve went to shop-came home". The 17th: "I went to church in buggy with Mr. 1-came home-windy & cold-at night [he?] had nothing to say". The 19th: "came to school-went home-but little to say". The 20th: "Rain(ed) some all day-13 schollars-in eve went home-as yestoday & day before". The 21st: "Nothing to say-came to school-The reason I have nothing to say to him is it look(s) a littl(e) like he doubth(?) my word a(nd) will bleave others in preference". The 22nd: "At school-15 sch.-came to store at noon-in eve till the mail arrived- came home-I was as sad as ever-as soon as J. R. went to bed-he went too-that night the coffee was as bitter as peach leaves or quinine(?)-in the morning I drank no coffee but just let it set-after breakfast he went to plantation-never said a word to me-which he had never done before-I caught my horse & went to L. H. Turner's-1 Pair of shoes half so(led?)-came home-by 1/2 after 11- [he?] ha (d?) came home & is trimming some fruit trees-I just sat about here-we never spoke-in the eve he came up to Turner's old house-left me-I came on after him thought probably(?)I would get some releaf-I thought prob.
