February 22 to March 4, 1856

The 22nd continued: "..Came back-had but lit. to say-went to Lot-I asked him if 
he was not mad with me-he said not But [confusion in dates from 22nd to: "S. 
24th"]

S.(Sunday)24th: "He in an expression called me a liar & he fixed to go to J. 
B.'s and expected to return & told J. R. to get me off before he returned-all 
of this made me angry-
so I told him I could go without [anyone] geting [anyone] off-I went to Sardis
(G.[George] Maddux was married an(d) old schoolmate)-M. J. O. came home with me-
Mr. 1 had not returned but returned befor night_M. J. O. left-I asked Mr. 1 to 
take a walk with me-which he did-we talked it over and as it was made friends-
he said he ment no harm of what he said-(I do now & have always loved him very 
much)-the bell rang for supper-we did not mind it-but came [directly?] ".

The 26th: "He berried a negro child".

The 28th: "at noon he started to Covington".

The 29th: "At school-he came home at night".

The 30th: "In eve-4 Ocl. dismissed school-went to S. Shoals to sell my horse-
came back without selling".

March 1st: "rain all day-we went to store-came home in eve-he was talking of 
going to Texas-Hamp came-he went of(f)with him-J. R.(Rutledge)went to store-
then I went to store-to S. T.s with J. R.(the first time he ever saw them)-we 
came home".

The 2nd: "Mr. & Mrs. 1 went to church-came home-he in eve went to J. B.s and 
asked if I was going with him (with him)-(I do not go for such asking)-I told 
him I recond not-stade about here-cool".

The 3rd: "at school-30 schollars".

The 4th: "He went to town by him self-Mary at school for the first in life(she 
is his little daughter-he is geting pay for not.."
