March 16 to April 5, 1856

The 16th continued: "..Went back to church-came home-very plesant".

The 21st: "In eve rec'd a letter from sister E. F. S.(Elizabeth) stateing that 
all was well-Uncle J. Allen died Jay. 12th".

The 22nd: "Went to Shop-horse shod-came home-left knife-after diner went after 
it-Mr. 1 asked me to help him roal logs-I told him as he would not ask me 
sooner-I beleaved I would not help him but-with [the] intention of helping him-
which I accordingly done (? ?)".

The 23rd: "Pleasant morning-I took my horse & left to go to Sardis & Turners-
but went to Sardice-C. C. W. preached, communed, came to T.(Thomas)J. 
Williamsons-dined-all eve-came home-I heard that R. J. Harpers little boy was 
ded-I went with Dr. M. H. B. & I. B. B.".

The 24th: "At school-Dr. M. H. B(Bryans) here". 

The 25th: "F. M. Hail came-bot. my little horse -Elic(?)-he was a beautiful 
claybank-black main(e) & T.".

The 29th: "M. H. B. here-at night we went to Mr. Watsons to a candy-party-he & 
J. R. went with me-rain-came home 11 Ocl.".

The 30th: "Rain-Mr. 1 let me have a mule to ride to T.'s(Turner's) church-rain 
went on-Noah Smith preached in W. H. T.s House-then I went home with C. 
(? ? ? ?) all eve".

The 31st: "I was asked to a weding at S. T.s-H. Bentley & E. F. Turner tomorrow 
night".

April 1st: "in eve came home & me(?) & J. R. went(Mr. 1 & Hamp was there on 
their way from town-me & S. T. was the waiters-stade tolerable late-came home-I 
have about 30 schollars".

The 3rd: "Barton & family came-today was the day for me to work the road-but 
did not do it".

The 5th: "In morning went to planta.-came back-went to J. B.'s-ate dinner-we 
went to b(u)y a hor(se?)..".
