June 18 to July 4, 1856

June 18th: "I found a bee tree-gave it to Mr. 1".

The 21st: "In the morning Mr. 1 & Cop. went to fish baskets-he neve(r) said a 
word to me about going-(altho I had been telling him all the week I would go 
Saturday and fix a basket as it was his request-I was angry-I shaved then went 
down that way-saw Hamp-I waited their return-came on just a head of them-Hamp 
asked me to go to S. Shoals for him-which I did-came home by 12 Ocl.-in eve 
went bee hunting-came back-then to river in washing-came home at night-J. R. & 
wife[above line "here(?)"]".

The 22nd: "Went to Sardis-from thence to E. S. with Edmond-dined-then to W. C. 
W.'s-see & be with G. W. W.-E. S. with me(boath my old school fellows for 
several years). G. W. W. is married-1 ch.(child)-came along some distence with 
him-came home at- [coded passage]".

The 23rd: "came to school-20 scholars-very warm".

The 28th: "in the morning I went to river with Copland-as Mr. 1 wanted to go to 
gin house-(he was) very angry because J. Rutledge had taken off his mule and 
was to have (him) back last night-he went to planta.-got me to stay till J. R. 
returned-he came-then Mr. 1 came from pl.-in eve he went to Gin House-I came 
with him to store as Copl. wanted me to come up there".

The 29th: "We all went to Turners church to meeting-I went -(L. H. T.'s 
childrens funerels was preached by Noah Smith-Text 15 C. 25 & 6 verses of 1 
Cor.)- Widow Traves(?)-then me & Camel went to Dr. Brantlies-some rain and hail-
came home-not any here".

The 30th: "28 ch.(students)".

July 1st: "I came to school-Mr. 1 went to Town-28 (s)chollrs".

The 2nd: "Mr. & Mrs 1 went to Barton's".

The 3rd: "I dismissed school untill monday- [small script: "his ma(?) came(?) h
(ere?)"]".

The 4th: "We came to store-E. & L. T. got dog bit-I went there-came home-Mr. 1 
beating ap(p)les to make sider..".
