KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 102 of 137) July 26 to August 21, 1856 The 26th continued: "..came home with us-in eve we went to T. Thrasher's-back to J. Bryans-home-not much rain-the dryest season I ever saw". The 27th: "I went to Sardis-Thomas Stallworth[funeral?] was preached(?)-came by T. O. Martins-home-to W. H. Bryans-home again-very dry and (is?) [not?] very flattering prospect for a crop". August 3rd: "We went to River in washing-came home-then to Bridge letting-then to store". The 4th: "I went to Countyline-a great many people out-some little rain-came home-W. H. B. & family here". The 6th: "He went to Town. [date error, same line: "T. 8th-dismissed school"] The 8th: "I went with him Hunting to McGraw's-came home-I went to W. B. A.-ate dinner-then he went with me as far as his mill-I went on to John F. Jackson's examination-came back to mill-then we came on to his house-all night". The 9th: "I went back with him to mill-came back-then to Where W. H. T.s negro was who had got his leg cut nearly off wit(h) an ax-I went to L. H. T.s with E. S. Harper & M. G. Turner-ate dinner-then to W. H. T.s-came home-1 letter from Pa". The 10th: "We all went to Mt. Bethel-S. Odell preached I.(or J?)Harpers funeral- a small boy I wonce went to school with-C. Zackry came home with us-they left- we went to Hamps-he was not at home". The 11th: "Copland came-they went hunting". The 15th: "called all but few came of the Patrons(?)-Mr. & Mrs. 1 came-H. W. Moore-W. Hooten, T. H. Bryans, Warren & William Jackson & some others-for to see about a school next year-Defeared untill friday week-went home-me & Mr. 1 went to plantation". The 16th: "at 3 Ocl. we arrose-went hunting-came home-we went to church-came home-we went to T. T.s-came home". Teh 17th: "Went to Church-a good many there-came home-Hamp's family ate dinner- all eve-pleasant for the season". The 21st: "In morning went hunting.."
