KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 105 of 137) September 13-26, 1856 The 13th: "He went off to pl.-I wanted to go with him-he went off without saying one word to me about going-I stade here till he came back-then we came to the store-in eve went back home-then to William Capes-came home". The 14th: "Copl. came and wanted him to go with him to Henderson B.s(Bryans) and [for] me to go with his daughter and Miss Blakley to Island Shoals-I went- came back all the eve-[at Bryans']-Mr. 1 came-I came home with him-pleasant warm wether". No date: "Wednesday night I went to a show [at] S. Shoals-I saw two women-1 3ft. high 27 years old-(1) 3 1/2 ft. 19 years-came home" The 18th: "Went to William Giddians Exr[?-examination-?]-went to Bowdens(?)-ate supper-then back to school H.-then home 10 Clock at night". The19th: "received a letter from Pa dated 6 of Aug. but arrived 6 Sept.". The 20th: "They went off to Bartons-I then went to meeting-they came to meeting- came home-in eve went to store-came home & c.". The 21st: "They went to J. Bryans as he was qute(quite? [sick? ? ?]-I went to meeting then I went to W. H. T.s all eve-he was at (he was at) home by [him] self-I came home". The 24th: "Some frost-which I never (k)new so soon in this county before". The 25th: "An examination up by I. H. B.s-I intended to go-but several was speaking of going so I would not go-all but Mr. 1 & I. B. B. was disappointed by the same-I would of went if it had not have been for that-if he had of let me of known th(e)y was not going-he could of let me of known-I thought heard [hard] of him for it-F. E. B. came all night". The 26th: "A(t) noon Wm. Smith Broke his arm-I went to see him".
