KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 106 of 137) September 26 to October 12, 1856 The 26th: "..In eve I went home-had but little to say to him-as I thought he should have let me of known it & c.". The 27th: "in the morning came to store-then to pl.-back to Gin house-home in eve-he went off to pl. & to Hamp-I came to the store-he came and we went back together-but little to say for I intended to go with him". The 28th: "Went to Sardis-to Willis Head's-then home (by where my father moved from)-we came up the road and talked some time-came back". September 2nd: "Mr. 1 gon to Covington-I miss him much when he is absent-It appears to me that I can hardly do without him or his company-but we must part here". The 3rd: "he came home". The 4th: "I went with Hamp to D. Copland(?)as he was sick-then I went on to Dr. Brantly-& he was not at home-came to J. J. T.s-ate dinner-came with Elizabeth Turner to her mothers". The 5th: "Went to meeting to Sharon-to W. B. Ammons all night-J. J. F.(?) & wife there in eve". The 6th: "Came home in eve and went to W. Head's-came home by Mr. Moors-by(?)10 Ocl. when I got home at night". The 9th: "In morning went with Mr. 1 hunting-came home-he then went to Bartons". The 11th: "He went hunting-two coons-in eve his Ma & Co.[?-cousin-?]F. Hester came to his house-F. lives in Clark-came to bring her home-he gave me an introduction to him in Bersheba or the store". The 12th: "In the morning(as he caught 1 young coon alive)-we let a young coon loose to have a race-but it would not run-so we killed it-they then left for Bartons-I asked Mr. 1 to go with me to town-but he would not go(S. some hogs)- afternoon we went to store(the old lady Bryans here)-when we came back J.(?) Bryans here-he left-we went squirrel(?)-[above line: "hunt.-came back"].
