November 1-12, 1856

The 1st continued: "..I came home-ate dinner at W. B. A.s-he came with me to W. 
Greer's-I came to Bersheba-home".

The 2nd: "came with Mr. 1 to store-back at home-in eve we went to T. H. Bryans-
came home".

The 3rd: "came to school-4 (s)cholars-came(?) rain all night(?)".

The 4th: "Raining-came to school-3 (s)chol.-dismissed for the Election for 
President Filmore (&) 48- Buchanan 22-I clearked at the Election all (day?)-in 
eve blew off cold".

The 5th: "W. Crowell started to Florida-7 scholars".

The 6th: "In morning we went hunting towards J. B.'s-I came to school-7 
scholars-at noon today & yestoday I went to J. E. Buntyns as he was making me a 
coat-at night he [Mr. 1]  remembered- [reminded] me-but I had not forgotten-
what he told me 22 day of last Nov. about teaching school here this year-but I 
beleave I should of took his advise-still I can not see but what I have done 
for the best-I know by experience what he told me".

The 7th: "At noon I went and paid my tax-which $1.45-in eve when I went to the 
store Mr. 1 was there-we went home-to pl. to cut down a tree for a coon-not any-
came home".

The 8th: "commensed raining before day-continued untill 12 Ocl.-we went to 
store then to J. E. B.s-came back to store-blew off cold-we went home".

The 9th: "They went to J. B.s-I went to Turners church-then to L. H. (T.s?)-
came home-E. B. came home with them-all night".

The 11th: "Mrs. 1 went to I. H. B.s all night-me & Mr. 1 went hunting-came back-
tolerable col(d)-we both slept or lay together- [long coded passage]".

The 12th: "came to school-sleepy all day-Robert Brooks came to see me-a buggy 
[failed?] this morning-we came to the store (?)or shop to get my horse shod-two 
more days to teach school-then I will be out forever-maby-and no doubt but what 
it [the school?] will be here
-at night- [in very light script: "Mr. 1 said he wanted me to start before day 
and go hunting -he got up at three and because I did not- (mostly illegible) -
but he did not..]".
