November 13-20, 1856

Undated-[the 13th]: "I am going to adjourn school this eve forever here I recon-
but four scholars- Greenbury S. Bryans, N.(?) C.(?) John H., & William H. 
Bryans-these three & Luke W. J. Turner-at a little after 4 I adjourned-went 
home=went hunting at night-without success-came home".

The 14th: "Here till after noon-then me & J. B. went to look at Jas. B. land-
came back-I was in a notion to buy it-I told him I would let him know Monday 
what I would do". 

The 15th: "we went to church-came home & E. J. Fargason [came] with us-then we 
went to the S. S. [Sabbath school] with him".

The 16th: "We all & J. B. with me went to church-I went home with F. E. B. from 
church-but as all the rest had not returned I came home-we came by T. H. B.s-I 
asked her if she had any objection to me coming to see her-she said she did not 
no[know]-but then said I might come to pass off the time with he(r)-but without 
her min(d) changed she never intended to marry any person-without her mind 
changed & c.-E. C. & wife came-I came to school house-wrote this from Thursday".

The 17th: "I went to James E. Buntyns to buy his land-but did not-in the eve me 
& Mr. 1 went to L. H. T.s-came back-he came with us as far(e) as the store".

The 18th: "I again went to Buntyns-bot. his land at 775 D.-in eve me & J. E. B. 
went home with L. H. T. as he stade last night at the S. S. [Snapping Shoals?] 
for him to give him a Deed-but as the old deed was in McDonough-he gave me a 
bond for titles".

The 19th: "Came by Sharon-Mr. 1 was there-but went to Bartons-I came home at 
noon-in eve went to S.(?)T.s-came home & just before night we went hunting".

The 20th: "We went up to Bridge raising-some rain-I came home brought his mule-
in eve went back in buggy for him to come home with me-raining- E. J. F. is 
raising Bridge".
