KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 110 of 137) November 21-30, 1856 The 21st: "Stilling raining-at noon Wm. S. Nolin came for me to go to store as L. H. T. & A. Slonn(?)wanted to see me-I went after we ate dinner-Mr. 1 went by there to J. Bryans-I came home after promising Henry Skinner I would come and look at his land on the morrow morning". The 22nd: "In the morning me and Mr. 1(as I had got him to accompany me)-[went] and looked it over-came home in eve-he went with Chaffin to Wm. Greer's-I went [to] S. T.s then to J. E. B.s-came home-at night we went hunting as usual-no coon-Wm. Parker came to us-came home- I went..[tails off-some code?]". The 23rd: "Raining all day-here at home-Mr. 1 & myself lay down-he- [long coded passage] -I know not what it will terminate as we have passed but few words-he is now a sleep". The 24th: "In eve we went to Mr. Linsy's(?)-some rain-when we went to start he had his mule caught without saying one word to me-after he had asked me to go with him in this way-Let us go to L.'s-I said well-but we went-I felt like he did not want me to go be with him-so I came home from T. H. B.s-he went by I. B.s". The 26th: "I went to S. S.(Snapping Shoals?)-he came-I ate dinner at B. G. Hook's in eve-when he came I went with him to Wm. Wood's-came home together". The 27th: "We both started to Bridge raising-S. Head came to see me-I came back and insted of going to bridge raising-I went to W. B. A.s mill to see him-came home". The 28th: "We both went to Bridge-came home-I went to S. S. with C. C. W. (White?)-came home". The 29th: "I went by J. S.(?) to R. J. H.(Harper's?)shop to see S. H.-I trade with him-Mr. 1s Mare for a horse and buggy-75 dollars for boot(?)-came home by T. J. M.(Martin's)-did receive the buggy". The 30th: "went to Turner's church-then to W. H. T.s-at din.-Dr. Middlebrooks there-came home".
