December 1-11, 1856

The 1st: "I went after bug(gy) and horse-came home-in eve went to S. S.(Shoals)
to get a pair of harness-came home-some rain".

The 2nd: "we went to store-in eve I went to where J. R.(John Rutledge?)was 
splitting rails for me-came home".

The 3rd: "we starte(d)in eve to go to T. H. B.s about going to Covington-met 
him-came by S. T.s".

The 4th: "T. H. B., Mr. 1 & myself starte(d) to Cov.-I was not well pleased in 
starting as there was no preparation for me-but T. H. B. beg(ged)for me to go-
he would bare my expenses-I went-all passed off right-I recon we got 1 1/2 
miles this side of Covington-I never slep(t) 10 minutes from the way Mr. 1 
actted towards me".

The 5th: "we went in Co.-sold cotton-came home 8 Ocl. at night".

The 6th: "He went by Hamps to bridge-I went by store-he came home with me in 
bug.".

The 7th: "We all went to meet(ing)-Sharon-I went home with E. Bryans(Elizabeth)-
they came and in eve came home".

The 8th: "in morning I went to store-bot. me an ax-helved it-went to B.(Buntyn)
place-put up some fense-came home".

The 10th: "I went to Wm. H. B.-came back-went to store-then to J. Skinner's-
then to J. Hunt's-Jas. Stroud's-then to W. Strouds-then to D. R. Lewis'-then to 
Wm. Hooten's-ate dinner-then back to J. S.(Skinners)-to store-then to S. T.s(?)-
back to store-to Wm. Jacksons'-home".* [entry out of sequence]

The 9th: "We went to Town-he went in bug. with me-back by Bartons-home".

The 11th: "Went to W. H. Moore's-came home & c.-Mr. 1 bot. some hogs at Wm. G.
