KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 113 of 137) January 1-13, 1857 The 1st: "I left Dr. Crocker's-came on with the intention of coming to Dr. Slawter's-but stoped at Huckebe's at Russelsville-very cold". The 2nd: "foggy and cold-came on-in eve rain very hard just at night-came to R. J. Harper's". The 3rd: "Clear and very cold-came to Bersheba-met Mr. 1 at shop-he shuck hands with me-we came home-he told me he had bot. a negro woman from A. Herron and wanted me to buy it-I told him maby I would-we then went back to store as there was an election there-in eve ca. home". The 4th: "In eve they went to T. H. B.-I went to Robbert Russels to see if Traynham was going to Take the school at Odell A.-and I heard he (he)was-came to Wm. B. A.s all night-clear". The 5th: "soon in morning came home-we went to Bersheba to another election-in eve I went to Wm. Smiths for him to come to election (as he was a blind man)". The 6th: "We went to Town in my buggy-came home". The 7th: "I just stade about here-clear-Y.(yesterday?) looked like rain". The 8th: "just about here with Mr. 1-out of employment and know not what to do nor what I will do-every boddy is asking me what I am going to do-all receives the same answer-I do not no [know]what I will do". The 9th: "we went to T. T.s (Tom Thrasher's?)-came home in eve". The 10th: "In eve we went to S. T.s-came home-I told him I thought I would take that negro"- [between lines: "I asked him if he had said (any? thing?) to any persons about his trade-he said no"]. The 11th: "At Mr. 1s all day-in eve P. Kilgro (illegible)". The 12th: "here and went to newground-I will if nothing happens start home Wednesday 14th". The 13th: "I went or started to J. S.s(Skinner's?)to see Henry-saw him-came back to store and there saw H. B.-he told Copland if his Brother could see Mr. 1.."
