KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 116 of 137) February 1-5, 1857 The 1st: "..here till noon-in eve just before night Miss E. F. Bryans went home- I went with her-We talked about marrying-I told her I was bound to marry-she said she would marry and said she was joke-ing when she said she would not marry & c.-I stade till after supper-came (back)". [between first two lines: "I told Mr. 1 he might go to town with me-he never said(?)] [above bottom line: "I told her I would be back Sat. night befor ? ? ?"]. The 2nd: "I went to S. T.s-saw Sarah her daughter-came to Wm. Greer's then to Wm .B. A.'s-ate din.-came home all night". The 3rd: "Mr. 1 caught his horse to go to Town-I told him I would not go with out he would go with me in buggy- (with me)- he meditated about it-but at last said he would go-so we went together-came by his Ma's-he pade her some money & c.". The 4th: "I went to S.T.s-came to store-home-ate din.-to Dr. B.s(Bryans)-I told him I would I would come tomorrow to live at Worthvill(e)-came home in night- wrote this by C. L. [candle light]". The 5th: "Up in morning commensed preparing to move to Worthville-Mr. 1 went to plantation-I linguard to see him-Mrs. 1 said to me I must not foresake them-I could not bare it without sheding of Tiers-I neve(r)v spoke to her any more-she befor beged me to stay till after dinner-I linguard-at 11 Ocl. Mr. 1came-I neve (r) ate dinner-they ate-he came in-I had come down from up sta(i)rs- (he?) had a few words-I said to him-Mr. Ammons I would not have thought you would have linguard when you (k)new I wanted to see you before I left-he said he did not know I wished to see him-I gave him fore Apples-one for him and one apeice for his wife & children-I walked out-hitched my horse-came to store-T. J. M. came on with me a peace(?)-this side of Island S.(Shoals).. (?)".
