February 15-18, 1857

The 15th: "In the morning I arrose early(or about? ?)-well(?) I asked him a few 
simple questions after breakfast-we went  to lot-as I had often before done-we 
staded about 1 hour looking at some [coded words] then I left-(so we had but 
little to say about what I wanted to talk about)-And (I) went to J. Bryans-
stade untill time to go to meeting-then Miss E. F. B. went with me to church-we 
renewed our conversation-came back-ate dinner- then in a few minutes I left-(I 
had to leave soon after she came and took a seat with me-which I hated-when I 
left I shuck hands with her for the first time*-I went to S. T.s from thence to 
Mr. 1's-he was at church & had not returned(?)-I asked him in the morning would 
he return from church-he said he would if Mrs. 1 did not want to go to her 
fathers-They are gon to E. J. F.(Fargason's?)-I suppose I waited for them some 
two hours-then I left to come to Worthville-arrived about 8 Ocl-left hors(e) at 
Mr. Roberson's-came on-I wanted to see Mr. 1".

The 16th: "Me & Dr. Bryans went to McDonel's pl. to get some corn & fod(der?)-
foggy-some rain-came b.".

The 17th: "I went to Monntsello by Mrs. Waters-came back by Keys Ferry which 
was the first F(ferry) I ever crossed about 15 or 16 years ago".

The 18th: "I went to S. Shoals to see H. H. Harvy-then to Mr. 1's-he was gon to 
Pl.-I never saw him-Mr.(s). 1 was (a)pologising for not coming home last Sunday-
I told her I did not mind it-but I did-she got din. for me-I ate about 2 Ocl.-
when I went to leave I told her I beleved I would not come to see Mr. 1 no more 
as I could not see him-and when I did I could not get to talk with him".
