KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 119 of 137) February 18 to March 2, 1857 The 18th continued: "..I left came to Bersheba-back by I(sland) Shoals-to Worthville about 8 Oclock-Dr. Bryans came-when he left I wrote this". The 19th: "He left to go to Augusta-at night I wrote a letter to my father-some three or fore foggy mornings in this month". The 22nd: "I went to Sardis-came back- (i)n eve I went to Dr. B. as I saw F. E. B. at (the) meeting with her father-they went to Dr. 1(Bryans)-in eve I went- saw her but had but little to say to her there-I came home". The 23rd: "Me & Dr. B. went to McDonough-came back by Widdow Reaves". The 27th: "in the morning I went to Mr. (David?)Madduxes' to see about three bushels of Potatoes-(and the same measure of trouble)for Mr. 1-I had them mea (sured?)-came back with the expectation of carring them to him tomorrow eve-at night I went with Dr. H. (Huson?) [small script, perhaps- "at Mr. M.? to set up?"]. The 28th: "Some rain-but in eve 1 hour by sun I left-went by Mr. M.(Maddox?)- all of his family is no better-all down with the measles-some colder-(we have had very warm wether in Feb.)-I went on & got to Mr. 1's about 8 Ocl.-all well- I went in-after supper I asked him if he had any potatoes-he said he had and did not want(?)them-so I was disapointed-I thought I would carry them to my Pl. that night-but defered it till morning-I was very much dissatisfied but staid all night". [Date omitted:] "in the morning they left to go to I. H. B.s-I left went to Pl. with my potatoes-went back to Copland's-received some recepts(?) from D. M. Lee- I stade all day at Co.-she was plageing (plaguing)me about E. F. B.-in the eve I came to Mr. Madduxe's- sat up all night-very windy & cold". March 2nd: "I came here-I heard that Mr. H. V.
