KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 123 of 137) April 11-18, 1857 The 11th: "I shaved preparatory to go to McDonough-I went to or by Bersheba-Mr. 1 was there-I asked him to go with me to town-he said he could not as he had fire in his new- ground & would have to attend to it-very few words to me-he left-so did I indipendant of him-went on to Turner's meeting house-saw there was meeting there-Mr. Gray preached-I then went to W. B. A.s-ate dinner-he then went to town with me- (I went for a coat I cared(?) [carried] to town the day I went with T. H. Bryans- ["24th"-above])-my coat was not dun-we came back to his house-Pleasant day-I intended to go to J. B.s at night-but gave it out & stade with Wm. B. A. all night-with the intention of going there in the mor". The 12th: "When I awoke it was hailing some snow & rain-So I still defeard(?)- and stade with him untill eve-then left came on to Island Shols(?) to S. Perries-came here". [entries out of sequence] The 11th: "I told W. B. A. that I beleaved that Mr. 1 was mad at me about something-he said he did not think so-for he always spoke in the best of terms of me-that gave me some satisfaction-well it may be that I am in the falt-but would be glad to know (it?)". The 12th: "we went to lot-talked a good deal about one thing and another-About women mostly-he gave me some strong expermenting facts he had had [long coded passage]- I will recollect the above line & c.". The 16th: "I received a letter from D. l. Coldman-I will record this letter". The 18th: "I shaved & left to go to Sharon meeting-but when I got beyond C. C. White's-I met him coming from meeting as there was no meeting".
