KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 131 of 137) August 6 to September 4, 1857 [errors in date entry] The 6th: "I left Mr. 1's came to the old man Martins-to store-then to Dr. B.s". The 7th: "came to store". The 9th: "myself & Harris went to Island Sholes to meet(ing)-came back to store- then I went to Dr. B.'s all night". The 10th: "Came to store-here all week". The 15th: "I went to Sharon by Mr. 1's-he went with me to church-I came to his house to dinner-I. H. B. came home with him-he left so did I-I left to go to T. H. B.'s (Mr. 1 went to store with me) to get some barley for Dr. B.-I came to Dr. B.'s all night". The 16th: "Myself & the Dr. went to Mount Bethel to meet(ing)-a good many persons out- Odell preached 2 sermons-came home-then I walked to store". The 17th: "Received a letter from Pa-stating he had the chills-at the store all the week". The 24th: "My horse was sent to me but I did not use him". The 25th: "This day I received a letter that Pa was ded-dide and for me to come home as soon as I could-afternoon I went to Dr. B.'s-got my horse-went to S. T.s-C. Zackres-his wife was very ill-a good many persons there-Mr. 1 & Wife there-Mr. 1 asked me to go home with him-I went-wife staid". The 26th: "in the morning Copland went after her & brot. her home-Then we went to plant.-came back-in the afternoon I came to Dr. B.'s all night". The 27th: "I left came to store-then I left there-came to Dr. Slawter's all night-some rain". The 28th: "came to Mr. Ogletrees in Macon County-my horse give out-all night". The 29th: "me & him swapted buggies-then I came to Hollands two miles above Draytown-today wind rain & hail". The 29th: "[small script: "a mistake in date"]- I came to where Pa died at 12 Ocl." The 30th: "Myself Elizabeth & Lucy went to where Pa was beried-about one mile and a half up the Creek-came back here". The 31st: "Here all day-this day 10 years ago Sister Rebecca [above line "did"- (died)]. September 3rd: "..In eve I went to school hous(e) to G. Bryan(t.?)to get a dog- George went with me from school house-all night". The 4th: "I intended to go to Isabella-but it looke(d) like [for] rain-so I did not go-here with George* all day". ________________________ * George is brother-in-law George D.
