December 25, 1905. Stephen Benjamin Moss was born May 12, 1848 in Newton Co. GA. He was the first child of Francis and Martha F.(Mann)Moss who married there April 9, 1846. "Ben" Moss married Sarah Ann Gray in Butts Co. GA January 4, 1872. Sarah was the eighth child of Allen and Peletiah(O'Nail-O'Neal)Gray, and granddaughter of James and Elizabeth(Johnson)Gray. Ben Moss and brother, Oglesby Prophet("Doc") Moss-who married Sarah's sister Saphronia Jane Gray, met their wives in assisting the sisters across the South River near Island Shoals. Ben Moss served the CSA in Co. B 4th GA Militia. He died in Henry Co. June 16, 1932. Ben, Sarah, and an infant son are buried there in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery. John Daniel Carter was born August 18, 1855 in Henry Co. GA. He was the second son of Leonidas Daniel and Priscilla(Nelms-Nellums)Carter who married in Butts Co. December 21, 1852. John D. Carter married Lougenia("Lou")A. J. Rape in Henry Co. March 11, 1880. Lou was the daughter of Peter Marion Dekalb and Mary Ann(White)Rape. John D. Carter lived and farmed in Ellistown. His last home(now the McCart place)is still standing near that Keys Ferry Rd. junction. John D. Carter died December 29, 1935. He and Lou are also buried in Sardis Baptist Church cemetery.
