We clip the following special from the Columbus Enquirer-Sun. AMERICUS, GA., December 15. The First Baptist Church in Americus presented a beautiful and charming appearance this morning, the occasion being the solemnization of the first wedding which has occurred within its sacred walls. The decorations were elaborate and artistic, and the scene presented evoked the admiration of the large gathering of friends and relatives assembled to witness the sacred union of two loving hearts. The contracting parties were Mr. S. H. CAMPBELL, of Savannah, and Miss JULIA BRANNON, the lovely daughter of Capt. and Mrs. T. J. BRANNON, of Americus. Dr. A. B. CAMPBELL, the pastor of the church, pronounced the sweet and sacred words which made them man and wife. Immediately after the ceremony they were driven to the depot and left for their future home, Savannah, where Mr. Campbell holds a trusted position with the Central railroad. On Wednesday evening the pretty parlors of Capt. and Mrs. Brannon were thrown open, and the attendants, ushers and a few relatives and intimate friends assembled there to enjoy a delightful informal reception. An elegant menu was served about 11:30 o’clock and the spacious dining hall into which the guests were ushered was uncommonly pretty with its numerous small tables adorned with ferns and cut flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were the recipients of many and costly gifts from friends and relatives. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. G. P. CAMPBELL, of this place, and has numerous friends here who will be pleased to learn of this marriage. The WEEKLY wafts the couple congratulations.
