Jesse came from North Carolina to Wilkes County. HENRY COUNTY GEORGIA, The mother of Counties: Jesse BENTLEY---Revolutionary Soldier, served in Virginia. Fifth (5th) and eleventh (11th) Continental Line (C.L.) E. Index of Revolutionary records in Virginia State Archives. (Ref: VIRGINIANS IN THE REVOLUTION BY JOHN H.GWATHMEY.) Jesse is probably the first cousin of William Bentley II and Jeremaih Bentley. All three fought in the Revolutionary War. All three came from North Carolina, and all three came to Wilkes County, Georgia winning Land Grants and purchasing other lands in the county close to each other.
