ACADEMIES. 1837 Vol. 1 -- Page: 10 Sequential Number: 003 Full Title: AN ACT to Incorporate Farmers' Academy, in the County of Clarke, and to appoint Trustees for the same. CLARKE COUNTY Section. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Georgia, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That John Williams, Sr. James C. Branch, Barton Trasher, John Hendricks, and James C. Williamson, be, and they are hereby appointed, and they and their successors in office are hereby declared a body corporate, by and under the title of the Trustees of Farmers' Academy, in Clarke County. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Trustees aforesaid, and their successors in office, be, and they are hereby invested with the power of using a common seal, of sueing and being sued, pleading and being impleaded, in the several Courts of Law and Equity in this State, of making all necessary by-laws for their government, of holding titles to, and conveying real and personal estate, and of doing all and other things, and of enjoying all other immunities not inconsistent with the Constitution and Laws of this State, which may be necessary to the well being of said corporation, and of filling any vacancy that may take place in their body.
