RESOLUTIONS, Which originated in the House of Representatives. 1819 Vol. 1 -- Page: 160 Sequential Number: 149 Short Title: In the House of Representatives, 27th November, 1819. The joint committee on the state of the Republic, to whom was referred the communication of his excellency the Governor of the 26th inst. and documents relating to molestations offered by the Indians to the surveyors now employed in surveying the territory lately acquired of the Creek Indians, recommend the following resolution. RESOLVED, That his excellency the Governor be authorized and requested, without delay, to remedy the evils complained of, by the removal of all Indians from the territory now under survey, and that he give facility and protection to the operations of the surveyors by procuring the aid of the federal troops, if possible, if not, by detachments of militia. RESOLVED further, that his excellency the Governor communicate to the agent of Indian affairs for the Creek nation the information received, and the foregoing resolution, requesting that he aid in the removal of said Indians as speedily as possible, and that he use every and all the means within his control to prevent further [Illegible Text] or molestation.
