[missing title] ACADEMIES. 1832 Vol. 1 -- Page: 3 HEARD That Joseph Reese, Jesse George, Thomas Wood, George W. Turrentine and W. B. McKenney, and their successors, be appointed trustees for Corinth academy, in the county of Heard: Provided, That said trustees shall not draw any part of the academic funds of the county of Heard. HEARD Sec. 7. And be it further enacted, That David Smith, Jas. T. Wafer, James S. Curray and William Wood, be, and they are hereby appointed additional trustees of the Heard county academy, 1837 ACTS HEARD Sec. 54. And be it further enacted, That Jesse Johnson, Young Wood, Berry D. Johnson, Philip Orr, Silas Cheek, and their successors in office, be appointed Trustees for Bethel Academy, Heard county; Provided, That the said Trustees shall not draw any part of the Academic funds of the county of Heard. Sec. 55. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees, and their successors in office be, and they are hereby declared to be a body politics and corporate, by the name and style of the Trustees of the various Academies mentioned in this act; and as such, shall be capable and liable, in law, to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded; and to make all such by-laws and regulations as may be necessary for the government of said Academies: Provided, such by-laws and regulations are not repugnant to the coustitution and laws of this State. Sec. 56. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees shall be capable of holding real or personal estate, all gifts, grants, and immunities, which may now belong to said institutions, or which may hereafter be conveyed to them or their successors in office, for the benefit of said institutions; and that when any vacancy may happen, by death, resignation, or otherwise, of any one or more of said Trustees, the survivors, or a majority of them, shall fill said vacancy, and do all manner of business appertaining to said corporations.
