That William A. Sharp, Elisha Davis, Jeremiah A. Sharp, William Davis, and Thomas Chappell, and their successors in office, be, and they are hereby declared to be a body politic and corporate, by the name and style of the trustees of Stone Creek Academy, in the county of Twiggs. Notes on Thomas Chappel -- see below 1832 ACTS TWIGGS Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That William A. Sharp, Elisha Davis, Jeremiah A. Sharp, William Davis and Thomas S. Chappel, and their successors in office, be, and they are hereby declared to be a body politic and corporate, by the name and style of the trustees of Stone Creek academy, in the county of Twiggs; 1837 ACTS TWIGGS Sec. 52. And be it further enacted, That Thomas S. Chappell, John A. Nelson, Wm. Nelson, John C. Epps, and James W. Collins, be appointed Trustees of Union Hill Academy, in the county of Twiggs. And that Joseph R. Hand, John Asbell, Hardy Durham, John H. Denton, Thomas Glover, Thomas W. Anderson, and Joel Denton, be appointed Trustees of Richlaud Academy, in the county of Twiggs, And that Richard S. Rodgers, James Pearson, Abisha Anders, Wm. H. Read, and Cornelius Hollingsworth, be appointed Trustees for Pleasant Grove Academy, in the county of Twiggs. And that Robert Radford and Benj. Bryan, be added to Jefferson Academy, in the county of Twiggs, in addition to those already appointed by an act of the Legislature, of 1828, and to have the same privileges as those already appointed. =========== Thomas Chappell Thomas Simmons Chappell ( b. June 24, 1801, Hancock Co., GA; d. July 19, 1861, Twiggs) was married to Ruth Nelson (b. 1802, d. May 24, 1874, Twiggs) daughter of Alexander Nelson and Sarah Collins. Thomas S. Chappell was son of Thomas Chappell and Lavinia Cox Wheelus. Thomas S. Chappell served as deacon (1842) and later as pastor of Stone Creek Baptist Church. The Chappell family came into Georgia after the Am. Rev. when Thomas S. Chappell's grandfather John Chappell was granted land in Wilkes Co.
