Location: Abandoned cemetery near Piney Grove, just south of Bonaire, GA. Frank Middlebrooks, a member of the Beaver Creek Church, visited the old burial grounds in March 1996. The cemetery is about 100 ft. square with a fence around it. None of the 6 or 8 markers there were standing. One was illegible, the rest were hard to make out. At least 3 were markers of Pollock graves: ============= (Possible burial - not stone located) Pollock, Jesse Onslow Co., NC ca. 1765 died ca. 1832 Rev Soldier ==================== John M. Pollock born August 27, 1835 died 1852 Jesse E. Pollock born 1831 - (after 1885 ?) Mary E. (B.?) Pollock born May 19, 18(11 or 41?) The most recent dated stone was that of a woman named Watson, who died in 1885. He suggested that chalk rubbings could help verify some of the markings. The story he has heard about the old church, established in the 1820s, is that it was near the graveyard and was destroyed by fire. The new building was built perhaps 100 yards away. This church house burned in 1939 or 40 and was replaced by the one at Sandefur Rd., several miles away. The church's current oldest member is 93 and joined the congregation at 15. He does not recall the old cemetery. I am confident that this is where old Jesse (1763-1832, Revolutionary War veteran)was buried. The 3 stones Mr. Middlebrooks collected information from would appear to belong to members of the family of Lewis Pollock (1808- after 1855).
