Some sample pages: Saturday January 1st, 1859 I spent this day at the town of Fort Valley at the Residence of Eld. W.A. Skellie's. I spent part of the day about town with my Bretheren. I came to the house I had rented to see a horse owned by Mr. Henry Brown. I bought his horse agreeing to pay him $200.00 next Fall. Thus passed away the first day of the new year. Sunday, 2nd At Fort Valley at the Residence of Eld W.A. Skellie. At co o'clock I went to the Baptist Meeting House in company with my wife & Bro Skellie's family. I then tried to preach to an attentive audience followed by Bro Skellie. My wife & myself then went home with Sister Powers to dinner. I preached to the colored people at 3 o'clock as usual and at night to the white congregation. Thus passed away the first Sabbath day of the New Year.
