He was fully appraised of his approaching end, and seemed to enjoy happy assurance of his acceptance with God through his Lord Jesus Christ. At the age of 14 he was baptized upon a profession of his faith, and before he was of age, he had commenced preaching the Gospel of the grace of God. Though uneducated, he loved knowledge and sought it earnestly as opportunity was allowed. He read much and seldom forgot what he read; and few years after his ordination, he had obtained a very respectible reputation as an able minister of the New Testament. But a dark cloud gathered over him, in after years, and his sun went down with the dreary gloom which it produced. He was the victim of epilepsy and it was probably that which connected with his life, and surprised and mortified his friends may be traced to that blighting, withering influence of that dreadful malady. By A. T. Holmes Additional Comments: Isaiah Langley was born Sept. 8, 1809. (According to the various census reports he was born in SC.) His wife, Caroline Callaway Langley was born Dec 24, 1808. (She was born in Georgia.) They were married in Monroe County May 16, 1833. Their son, Thomas Edward Langley was born August 16, 1834. T.E. was also a Baptist preacher.
