At his home near Elko Mr. William Means died last Monday, he having been in declining health a year or more. In addition to the church service, Masonic honors were conferred at the burial Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Means was about 80 years old, a farmer all his life, an exemplary member of the Methodist church, a true christian, a Mason, a man whose excellent qualities won the confidence and friendship of all who knew him. Of the immediate family only the devoted wife and one son survive him, though there are a number of grand children and many other relatives. The life of Mr. Means was indeed well and worthily spent, and now the good man has been called to his eternal reward. The bereaved wife, son, grandchildren and other near relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends. Additional Comments: William Means was born ca 1827 in Georgia, the son of James Means, Jr. and Mary Ann (McKenzie) Means of Upson Co., GA. On 18 August 1852 in Houston Co., GA, he married Emma Susan Lane, daughter of Sanders and Zilpha Lane.
