She was only 26 years of age. Mrs. Campbell came here two months ago with her husband and her sister. Later he deserted her and is now supposed to be in Kentucky, while the sister left for North Bend, Neb., three weeks ago. The woman thus deserted took sick and pined away until death came to her relief. During life she refused to speak of her antecedents, but after her death Supt. Reddup examined the papers found among her effects, and then it was found that her husband's real name was W. C. Stubbert instead of Campbell, and that she was the daughter of the Rev. George L. Brown, a Methodist minister of Dodge County, Nebraska, near Webster post office. The children have been sent to the Orphan's home at Macon. A lady who was made a confidante by the dead woman says that her marriage was an elopement, that Stubbert kept his wife on the road almost all the time, and that he assumed the name of Campbell in order that he might better throw off pursuit by the Rev. Mr. Brown. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/houston/obits/s/stubbert10803gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
