Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gardner Watson Funeral Home here by the Rev. J. B. Smith, pastor of Perry Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He was born Oct. 6, 1854 in Barnesville and was the oldest man in Houston County. Additional Comments: The year of his birth may be 1855 instead. He was the son of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond of Monroe Co., GA. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Minter on 8 December 1880.
