White, Formerly of Fort Valley, Suicides in Atlanta. Was To Be Tried At Perry Atlanta, April 14 – J.T. White, formerly an agent of the New York Life Insurance Company at Fort Valley, and who was to be tried this week at Perry in the Houston Superior Court on the charge of embezzlement of $1,049 from his company, shot and killed himself in a local hotel here some time last night, his body being found in the hotel room by one of the maids this morning. White was arrested for the Houston County authorities in Macon on a warrant charging him with embezzlement. He was taken to Perry, where he was allowed bail. He came to the local hotel and registered April 9, from Macon, and cashed a check on W.H. White, of Macon, which subsequently was returned unpaid. It was learned during the day that he has been in financial straits for some time and indications are that, and loss of his position preyed on his mind. The several days he has been at the local hotel, however, nothing has occurred to attract special attention to him. The remains were removed to a local undertaking establishment, where an inquest is to be held.
