A Run-Away Marriage
     At about 3 o'clock last Sunday afternoon Mr. Walter E. Means and Miss 
Sallie C. Gaines, of Elko, were married at the residence of Mr. C. I. Bennett, 
two miles north of Perry.  Rev. J. T. Ryder, officiating.
     We are informed from Elko that the parents of the bride were opposed to 
the marriage, because they thought her too young.  The young folks were 
determined, however, and the elopement was deliberately planned, several of 
their young friends aiding and abetting.  Sunday morning Miss Gaines went out 
about two miles from Elko to take dinner with a cousin of the groom.  At about 
noon 
Mr. Means called there, and in a buggy they drove to Perry and on to Mr. 
Bennett's within about two hours. They were followed by a party of young 
friends, but we are told they arrived too late to witness the marriage.
     The happy bride and groom will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. I. 
Bennett, the latter being a sister of the groom, the remainder of this week, 
and then they will return to Elko, their home.
     The groom is a son of the late Dr. M. H. Means, a most estimable young 
man, intelligent, well-educated and energetic.
     The bride is a daughter of Mr. J. R. Gaines, a favorite with the people 
of that town and vicinity.
     The best wishes of their many friends will attend these young people 
continually, for a full measure of happiness and prosperity.
