Know all men that I Civil Griffin of the State and County aforesaid in 
consideration of the natural love & affection which I have & bear for my son 
Benjamin Griffin of the same State & County have given, granted & conformed 
unto the said Benjamin Griffin a certain Track of Land containing Four Hundred 
and ninety acres known by Number Two Hundred and Forty five in the ninth 
District of Irwin County and I the said Civil Griffin will warrant and forever 
Defend the aforesaid lands to the said Benjamin Griffin his heirs, 
administrator and assigns against me the said Civil Griffin, my administrators 
& Executors and all and every person and persons forever

Given under my hands and seal this 5th day of June A.D. 1824.

Additional Comments:
Civil Griffin, a widow and resident of Montgomery, drew Lot 245, District 9, 
Irwin County, Georgia in the 1820 Georgia Land Lottery.  The deed conveying 
this property to her son Benjamin Griffin is recorded in Montgomery County, 
Georgia.  Other deeds recorded in the same book were deeds for properties in 
counties other than Montgomery County.
