HOMICIDE IN IRWIN: We learn from Mr. David Fitzgerald, or Irwin County, that a difficulty occurred a few days ago between Thomas H. Additional Comments: Nathaniel Statham and his family were early settlers in the newly formed Irwin County, living in the part of Irwin that eventually became Wilcox County. His son, Thompson Nathaniel "Nat" Statham married Sarah Elizabeth Fitzgerald, whose family moved to the area from Burke County in the early 1820's after her father, John, drew Lot #200 in the 1820 land lottery. John Fitzgerald's wife was Rebecca Adams. Rebecca's brother, Miles Adams, was living in Jefferson County and also drew land in Irwin. He relocated there in the 1820's.
