Atkinson County Citizen - June 20, 2013
Teresa Davis Gurley, 44, of Axson, GA died Thursday, June 6, 2013 in a line-of-
duty traffic accident in Irwin County.
 Funeral serves will be 4 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Arbor Baptist Church 
in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Jack Chaney and the Rev. Casey Wright officiating.
 Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County.
 The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 Saturday evening at Arbor Baptist 
Church.
 Mrs. Gurley was born December 11, 1968, in Fitzgerald to Patricia Ann Paulk 
Smith and the late Eugene Guy Brantley. She was a 1987 graduate of Fitzgerald 
High School and received her EMT training at Ben Hill Irwin Technical College. 
She was a former dispatcher for Ben Hill County 911 and the Fitzgerald Police 
Department and a former EMT with Regional EMS in Atkinson County. Since 2002, 
she had worked with Coffee Regional EMS. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist 
Church in Axson.
 She is survived by her husband, Lewis Gurley of Axson; children, Michella 
Toler of Fitzgerald, Savannah and Blake Flanagan of Douglas, Ben Davis of 
Fitzgerald and Gavin Gurley of Axson; grandchildren, Conner Toler, Kenzleigh 
Toler and Jake Flanagan; mother and step-father, Pat and James Smith of Irwin 
County; sisters, Sherry and Allen Walker of Fitzgerald and Rhonda and Donnie 
Hopkins of Osierfield; three nephews, Mercer Hopkins, Shaw Hopkins; one niece, 
Kayla Bailey. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Guy Brantley.
 Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald was in charge of arrangements.
